Coollattin Golf Club is a beautiful and challenging par 72 layout located in the heart of historic Coollattin Park in south County Wicklow.

The first golf course at Coollattin was developed, in 1922, by William (‘Billy’) Wentworth, the 7th Earl Fitzwilliam. The Earl, an avid golfer and a nephew of one of America’s first professional golfers, could not have found a more stunning setting. The golf course was laid out against the backdrop of superb specimen trees, rhododendrons and azaleas – a rare and beautiful collection which had been planted and nurtured by ‘Billy’s’ family and ancestors since the early 1700’s.

The golf course at Coollattin has over the years undergone many changes. However, the canvas on which it is laid out is still the same, it still provides us with the same dazzling kaleidoscope of colour with its never ending changes of hue and shade manifested through the four seasons. As Kevin Markham says in ‘HOOKED’, his recent review of Irish golf courses -‘The setting is imperious, with the huge trees watching over your every step of the way, and golf that is serious fun’.

Coollattin today provides a sylvan heaven in the quiet backwater of south County Wicklow. We are almost exactly half way between Dublin city and Rosslare Europort. We are only sixty miles from Dublin city centre and only an hour’s drive from the Loughlinstown roundabout.

On our course you will not see housing development, you will not see any roads or hear the rumble of traffic. The only disturbance that you will encounter is the screech of a disturbed cock pheasant or the march past of mallard ducks.

We do not boast an ostentatious clubhouse. What we do have is a friendly and caring staff both in our bar and in our restaurant and good home cooked food served at a reasonable cost. If there is a chill in the air visitors and members gather around a log fire to exchange wisecracks and to tell tall tales of golfing exploits.

A superb golf course with excellent, true greens. The mature trees add something else to the challenges. Also, the staff were very friendly and efficient. A great golf day out.

Loved my round here! Tee’ed off at 8am and didn’t see a sinner until the 16th green. Beautiful mature course with each hole presenting its own challenge (but still doable for a 18hcp’er like me). Enjoy!
